Vessels in Other Sustainability Initiatives (VOSI)
Like the ProActive Vessel Register (PVR), ISSF’s Vessels in Other Sustainability Initiatives (VOSI) list is a transparency tool for the public — including seafood companies that want to understand which tuna vessels have made public commitments to more sustainable fishing beyond the commitments reflected on the PVR.
The VOSI
A verified resource for sustainable-fishing stakeholders.
Transparency Tool
The VOSI list is verified through a third-party audit process. Each VOSI record includes the vessel UVI number, vessel flag, vessel type, and other details — including whether the vessel also is listed on our PVR and/or Record of Large-Scale Purse Seine Vessels (LSPSR).
USING THE VOSI

Filter, Search & Sort
You can filter, search, and sort the VOSI list by vessel name, UVI number, UVI type, vessel flag, vessel type, and other categories.
- The VOSI shows when a vessel also is registered on ISSF’s Record of Large-Scale Purse Seine Vessels and/or ProActive Vessel Register; it also shows the vessel’s historical PVR status in complying with defined best practices.
- If a vessel operates in a Marine Stewardship Council (MSC)-certified fishery or in an in-Transition to MSC (ITM) fishery, the VOSI provides the fishery name (linked to an MSC/ITM fishery description page) and start and end dates.
- If a vessel participates in a publicly listed Fishery Improvement Project (FIP) that is third-party verified, the VOSI links to a FIP profile page with dates and other information.

Symbol Key
You will see these symbols in vessel records in the VOSI:
![]() |
Green checkmark: Means one or more of the following: (i) the vessel appears in another ISSF public vessel list, (ii) the vessel participates in an MSC-certified fishery and/or a FIP, and/or (iii) the vessel participates in a FAD-management or other sustainability initiative(s). |
info | Information symbol: When clicked on, shows a vessel’s national registration number, radio call sign, RFMO numbers, and dimensions |
open_in_new | PVR status symbol: When clicked on, shows current and historical information in the PVR for that vessel |
VOSI Records in CSV Format
VOSI records can be downloaded in CSV format.
Note that when a vessel is participating in more than one initiative, it will appear in multiple rows (one per initiative) in the downloaded file.

RELATED INFORMATION

MSC-Certified Tuna Fisheries
Find out which tuna fisheries worldwide have met the Marine Stewardship Council’s stringent sustainability standards.
MSC certification is a science-based global standard in sustainable fishing. Helping all tuna fisheries to become capable of realizing and maintaining MSC’s certification standards is ISSF’s strategic objective.

Tuna FIPs
Peruse publicly listed and third-party-verified tuna Fishery Improvement Projects (FIPs) at all stages, with links to detailed profile pages.
A FIP is a multi-stakeholder effort to address environmental challenges in a fishery, using the power of the private sector to incentivize positive changes toward sustainability.
